Create a new network design using network diagram in attachment as baseline using Visio or Lucidchart.com The requirements for the new network design are as follows:
- Include one border firewall facing the "world/Internet"
- There should be two networks with it, a private network and an DMZ, where they are hosting publicly available resources like a website
- Include the IP addressing along with subnet mask for each network in design
- On the private side incorporate a DHCP server and define its scope of addresses for that network with a /24 topology (as most LANs)
- The DMZ will need to have only static addresses on it. So, define them along with their subnet mask and really subnet to the most minimal amount of required addresses, although allow for scalability for double the number of nodes from your current design.
- Define the operating systems required, Windows, Linux, workstations, servers and server types (Windows server hosting IIS.... or Linux Server hosting apache) in both the private and DMZ networks.
Remember, static addresses for servers on the private side, so define the DHCP scope accordingly. Please keep these to an absolute minimum though because of host computer resources. A firewall, three or four nodes on the private side and two or three in the DMZ should be plenty.
Also, include (DNS, honeypots, IPS/IDS...etc) that needs to be implemented, be creative.
Summary
Finally, write a one page paragraph discussing, why and what are the benefits for choosing this new design and why it better than network diagram in attachment
