For this assignment you will read “Introducing the Health
Leader, Donald Bradshaw” pages 441-442, and “Ineffective Subordinate Leader -
Bradshaw Case 2” page 443, located in the Appendix of your textbook.
After you have reviewed this content discuss the following:
- What
were Dr. Bradshaw’s leadership characteristics? Do they differ from
yours (current or desired)? Discuss in at least 2 paragraphs.
- Discuss
your thoughts on how Dr. Bradshaw communicated with the ineffective
subordinate leader. Would you have communicated the same way or in a
different fashion? Discuss in at least 2 paragraphs.
- On
page 442 Dr. Bradshaw identified the three biggest leadership challenges
he believes he faces as well as the three most important leadership
improvement areas. Communication is first in both of these
categories. Do you agree with these three challenges/three
improvement areas? Why or why not? If not, how would you change them?
Discuss in at least 4 paragraphs.
- Select one
leadership model and explain how you would apply the
model when faced with a nonperforming employee. Examples (not
limited to just these) of models include transactional, transformational,
situational etc. Discuss in at least 4 paragraphs.
You
completed reading about mentoring and succession planning. Do you
think Dr. Bradshaw's remediation plans involved mentoring and succession
planning? If your answer is "yes", explain how. If your
answer is "no" then discuss whether or not mentorship and
succession planning needed to be considered. Discuss in at least 4
paragraphs.
