Choose a passage from Suttree, and create a reading that uses ONE of the theoretical approaches we have explored so far in class, i.e. structuralist, Marxist, or New Historicist. For example, how does an appreciation of class consciousness help clarify the text? Or, what patterns of structural elements in the passage relate to the larger thematic patterns of the text? Or, what historical elements need to be understood in order to interpret the text?
The paper should be 3 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman.
