Description

In this project you will design a presentation to explore the Kiva data. You will need to answer a total of six research questions: three are provided, and an additional three questions of your own. You will also generate a word cloud of the tags from a selected region or other selection of the data.

This is a challenge because the data set is very large and Excel will have a hard time processing the entire dataset (over 2GB when uncompressed) at once. To simplify this, we will use a database (or CSV files, your choice) to load the data you select using power query, create a data model using connections (without loading all the data into the sheet), map the relationships in the data model, create pivot hierarchies, use power view and maps to display the data.  The project is in the same groups as usual.

Using the data, please prepare an excel file or powerBI presentation with the following (PLEASE NOTE, do not include the data files with your submission, you wont need them if you do not change the structure of the files):

• Use PowerQuery to connect to the files in CSV format or a database
• Edit the queries to only import relevant data, transform data type as needed
• Connect to the tables only using connections (do not import the data into Excel), and bring into the data model
• Edit data model to connect tables to identify common keys
• Establish a data hierarchy (which types of data fit within others?)
• Develop database (or CSV) driven pivot tables
• Use powerview or powerBI to build at least three interactive displays  

 You will answer in your final presentation a total of six questions. Three of the questions listed below, and three of your own based on your exploration of the data. 

Questions:

1. Display an interactive dashboard using PowerView or PowerBI dashboard showing how much funding, in USD, was loaned by region, country, sector, and activity. 
2. Display an interactive dashboard using PowerView or PowerBI dashboard showing if the amount of the loan (in USD) vary based on the length of the loan or the gender of the borrowers?
3. Create a map exploring the data and showing activity by country along with associated data of your choice. The map or maps should be clear and easy to understand.
4. Display the data model and linked tables
5. Create an additional three research questions you will explore and explain during your final presentation.
6. In addition, create a word cloud using a selection of loan tags. 

An example of this (from the assignment instructions) is attached. I made it using https://www.wordclouds.com/ but you are free to try anyone you like. I simply copied and pasted all of the text from the page to create the graphic. You will need to be strategic about how you grab the filtered tags from the category you choose.
