Description

  1. Data in the table below are from 10 individuals with renal failure and their blood pressure. The predictor (X, independent, explanatory) variable, SODIUM represents salt consumption (in milligrams) and the response (Y, dependent) variable, BP represents systolic blood pressure (in mmHg). The data file  sodium_bp is available on Canvas for download.

a)    Use PROC IMPORT to import the data into SAS. Copy and paste here your SAS program and SAS log.

b)    Use PROC REG to run a model to determine the least squares regression line for these data. Copy and paste here your SAS program, SAS log, and SAS output.

c)    Type below the least squares regression line for the data. Provide an interpretation of the slope.

d)    Calculate the predicted BP for a person from this population that consumes 7.0 mg of sodium per day?

e)    Calculate the 95% confidence interval for slope parameter β. Use the information from the model and use the t-table in the textbook on pages 545-547 to look up the t-value.

f)     Using information from your SAS output, conduct a t-test of slope coefficient. Use information from the SAS output to calculate the test statistic. Remember to include all hypothesis testing steps (hypotheses, test statistic, p-value, statistical significance, and conclusion).
