Description

1.               INTRODUCTION

1.1 What is a thesis?

A thesis is primarily a document written by a student, which aims to enable them to structure their thoughts in order to give a reasoned and analytical response to a specific research question. As such, the thesis enables the student to educate by giving an answer to a research question in management. This is done by producing research model (proposition of method, framework,…) and validate it through case study(ies) This entails discussion of results and enables the student to defend one or more 'arguments/ideas'. It is not a work placement report.

The response given by the student to the research question in the thesis must be as thorough as possible and therefore depends:

- Firstly, on a literature review (or literature investigation). The idea here is for the student to gather literature in existing material that deals with their subject, as well as items that may help them to propose a research model.

-          Secondly, on an empirical study. The student need to collect data in company to validate his research model.

1.2.      The place of the Thesis in the programme

The Thesis is a work which ends the programmes MS/MSc and is done individually.

The minimum pass mark for the Thesis is 10/20 to allow the student to complete their course of studies. The number of credits allocated to the thesis is 30 ECTS.

Research project

The student has validation from their tutor. It is their responsibility to contact the tutor to discuss the research question, fine tune the subject if necessary and begin the work.

The student must submit a description of their subject, the main research question and associated challenges, a short description of the methodology envisaged and some key references associated with the subject . It must be submitted on the platform. If the tutor validates it, the student goes on to the next stage. If the tutor rejects it, the student must correct it and submit it again. *

Literature review

The student begins the stage of researching academic works (articles from scientific journals and works written by researchers) to bring some early elements of theoretical response to the research question. The tutor gives them guidance to ensure the literature investigation is as relevant as possible, but without actually giving them the references. This is organised in a plan, which it is advisable to submit to the tutor.

The student has written the theoretical part of their thesis in a clear, structured and complete manner. It is advisable to have it approved by the tutor
