Chivalry & War in the Hundred Years’ War: Using Bonet, Charny, and Froissart as your primary sources, what do you think the relationship was between war and chivalry during the period? The final paper should be15 pages or more (apart from the bibliography), summarizing and analyzing an insurgency of your choice. It must take into account several influential secondary sources AND MUST include significant PRIMARY sources material. We’ll discuss this more in the RESEARCH FORUM.
This is your chance to look at a topic of interest to you. This is a large portion of your grade (33%) and the most important single requirement for the course The paper should follow Kate Turabian’s style guide (Chicago). All references should be appropriately footnoted (NOT parenthetical) using correct style and punctuation. Grammar and composition count, as communication and clear thinking are the objective for all of the Humanities. If you need help with writing, HPU has a writing center that can help, but just having your classmates read and comment on your work (in exchange for the same from you) will be extremely helpful.
While the paper’s objective is look at insurgency through the lens of the books and principles we’ve discussed in class. You do not need to agree with what our authors have written, but you need to be able to make a clear and well-supported argument that demonstrates the breadth of what you’ve learned in the course.
