Option B - Leadership Paper:
Write a 15 page paper on applying Leadership topics/concepts to a leadership situation that is familiar through your current position at work. The paper is to be an analysis of the topic or situation based on an integration and synthesis of concepts learned during this course. These papers should be oriented around one of the three core leadership roles (envision, align, inspire) and then draw from additional leadership concepts to explain how to implement that role in your work context. Explain how to create psychological safety in order to more effectively align employees to the vision. What is psychological safety? How does it help people to identify performance issues and solve problems that interfere with achieving the vision? The paper should clearly identify the leadership concepts being used and demonstrate the application of those concepts to analyze the existing situation and arrive at a leadership decision and a set of recommendations. In other words, if you think that the situation/problem is the result of a lack of vision or insufficient communication of the vision, explain why. Then explain how using concepts from the leadership course about creating/communicating a vision would improve this situation. Students are required to use leadership concepts like sustainable competitive advantage theory and psychological safety in order to more effectively align employees to the vision. You may also use additional leadership concepts/references that help to better understand or implement the concepts you are using from the course. The paper should be typed, double-spaced, using 12-point Times-Roman font, and with 2.5 cm margins. Students will adhere to the APA style guide regarding citations and references.
