Define Zika. Viral definition, morphology, classification, etc. Reservoir: where is it most commonly found? Transmission: how do humans become infected? How is this virus spreading globally? People at risk: what are the populations at risk of infection? Current outbreak: describe the current outbreak: chronology, countries involved, number of infections reported to date, number of affected babies, source, actions taken to stop the disease spread. What is Zika virus disease? Describe the disease and its possible sequelae (congenital microcephaly and Guillain-Barré syndrome), its origin and how it affects human populations. Are Zika infections a notifiable disease in the United States? Who tracks infectious outbreaks in the US and the rest of the world? Treatment.
