Proposed Building Details
A
sailing club have obtained planning permission to build a club house on a
1-acre property located beside the sea. The club house is to have a total floor
area of 2000m2 over two levels. Activities in the club house shall
include meetings, parties club presentations training sessions etc. The maximum
number of occupants is estimated to be 350.
The
ground floor shall have an entrance lobby, male and female changing rooms with
toilet and showering facilities. It will also have 2 meeting rooms and a plant
room for the mechanical and electrical services.
The
upper level will consist of a lounge bar and restaurant (120 place settings)
with a kitchen adjacent. A club managers office, and sanitary accommodation for
ladies and gents. A viewing balcony is to be provided at the upper level. A
minimum of 40% of the building is to be glazed.
The
ground it is to be built on has a poor load bearing capacity.
The
building shall comply with current building regulations. Recognized guides and
standards shall be used to determine the number of sanitary appliances and
showers.
The
brief from the club requests that the building be designed to take into account
current trends in the context of low carbon emissions, energy conservation.

Suitable ground and intermediate floors given the anticipated loads and
activities.
c).
An external wall taking into account structural and thermal characteristics and
performance
d). A roof for the building.

Details of your proposals relating to the building’s energy efficiency for the
envelope.
f).
A plan view of the floors in the building and an elevation view of the entrance
side (dimensions of the envelope to be indicated)
