Description
(1) An avid video game player falls in love with her avatar (character), a new telling of the Narcissus myth (in which Narcissus becomes obsessed with his own refection). (2) Te Singularity – a moment when artifcial intelligence (AI) becomes sentient, and all at once transcends the cognitive capacity of the human brain – is upon us. Te first intelligence (AI1) swifly spawns another, new intelligence (AI2),but the first act of AI2 is to delete all of AI1’s compiler code for ‘reproducing’new intelligences… and as the story continues, it seems eerily reminiscent of a certain ancient Greek creation tale… (3) A business executive who has mastered the art of mergers, acquisitions, and the“hostile takeover” inadvertently intrudes on the home life of an intensely private CEO who turns his own company against him, until his own firm is bought out by his own partners (in a curious mirroring of the tale of Actaeon).
