As a sport manager or athletic personnel you will be expected to recognize any risks associated with your sport organization, especially if you are affiliated with an agency that conducts active participation. In this event, you will need to familiar yourself with the idea that someone who you may be supervising may be at risk for a concussion or may have had a concussion. Review and respond to the following questions to ascertain fundamental knowledge regarding concussions:
· What is a concussion?
· What is if any, the legal liability of a coach or athletic personnel whose athlete suffers a concussion while under his or her supervision?
· What should you do if a concussion occurs when you are coaching or managing athletes?
· As a sport manager or athletic personnel, what is the importance of recognizing a possible concussion when working with student-athletes? What are the symptoms of a concussion?
· As a coach, athletic director, or other athletic personnel, what can you do (pre-season, during the season, and post-season) to help prevent concussions from occurring in the sport activities you are supervising?
