Description

Rationale The aim of this assessment is to demonstrate your ability to relate and apply the theory presented in this course as you prepare to transition from a student nurse to a graduate registered nurse.

A theoretical framework describing theory to practice is Judy Boychuk Duchscher’s stages of transition: doing, being and knowing (Duchscher & Windey 2018). The focus of this framework is to describe the different physical, intellectual, emotional, developmental and sociocultural changes that newly graduate registered nurses experience. In this assessment you will investigate how the four concepts of belongingness, resilience, emotional intelligence and communication will assist you in the three stages of transition to professional practice as a newly graduate registered nurse.

This assessment consists of two parts. Part A requires you to develop a concept map linking the four concepts of belongingness, resilience, emotional intelligence and effective communication to doing, being and knowing (Duchscher & Windey 2018). Part B is a written assessment asking you to apply the concepts you have presented in your concept map to a case study.
