Brief of the Project:
We encounter a blockage in the pipeline due to stains and debris formed by our food particles, wastages, and particularly by oil contamination. This scenario is very common occurred in pipeline in the kitchen. It’s more worsen in restaurants due to high usage of the kitchen. The complex internal geometry and hazard content constraints of pipes demand robot-like system for inspection of such pipes. The system may check for corrosion level of the pipe, recovery of usable parts from pipe interior, sampling of sludge and scale formation on pipe internal surface, release of blockage etc. The inspection of pipe through robot is warranted as they pipe carries toxic chemicals, fluids and most of the time it has small internal diameter and bends which become inaccessible to human.
This project aims to develop an in-pipe inspection robot that navigates through a pipe, identifies the entities appear along the pipe line, removes the blockage if required. The design must consider easy mobility, ability to steer and turn through bends, adoptability, flexibility, stability, autonomous operation and obstacle avoidance, safe etc.
