The assignment brief for the MBA by Flexible Learning programme is shown below, together with assignment guidance and assessment criteria. Please read the whole of this briefing before you begin working on your assignment. Assessment of the Reputation and Responsibility module is by a single written individual assignment of approximately 5,000 words. (This module will not be assessed in an examination.) You may base the assignment on your own organisation or sector, or you may choose any organisation or sector with which you are familiar. The case studies and tools exemplified throughout the module are designed to help prepare you for the assessed assignment. You should complete the assignment after you have worked through the module study material. The Reputation and Responsibility module invites reflection on previous modules of the MBA, thereby outlining the strategic, holistic and integrated nature of reputation management in a complex business environment. It focuses upon the significance of strategic choice, the values that underpin choice and the critical and integrative thinking demanded of managers if strategic decisions are to be operationalised in an explicit, transparent and responsible manner. You are encouraged to revisit earlier parts of your MBA that are related to the management of reputation and responsibility and to draw upon any relevant additional materials from your MBA to address the assignment brief.

Select a theme or issue directly impacting upon current or future strategic management of reputation and/or corporate responsibility as it applies in your own organisation, or alternatively, as it applies within another organisation to which you have agreed access to appropriate research information and/or data necessary to the satisfactory completion of the assignment. Please note that you can select a theme or issue that equally relates to the management of reputation and the management of corporate responsibility. You can also select a theme or issue that mainly focuses on one of these subjects, either reputation or corporate responsibility, but it is expected that you provide some context and discuss some implications from your investigation for the subject you have focused less on. As explicitly discussed in the study materials, it is useful, for the purpose of exploring issues relevant to the understanding and management of both reputation and corporate responsibility, to investigate the nature of stakeholder–organisation relationships, i.e. experiences, observations, attitudes, perceptions and behaviours from actors in ongoing organisational exchanges.
